Highland’s Italian Beefsteak
Indeterminate 80 days to maturity, the highland italian produces large fruit deeply ribbed shape with a bright red red color. Highlands Italian beefsteak is full of bold, slightly acidic “oldfashion” tomato flavor. A meaty flesh with few seeds, they tend to be softer and juicier than modern hybrids, but are highly valued for its flavor. Produce clusters 1.5lbs per tomato. Great for slicing, salads, and a local favorite as fried green tomatoes when picked early.
General Growing Requirements:
Full Sun: 6-8+hrs
Temperature: 70-85 F daytime, 55-60 F night temperatures
Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil 6.0-7.0pH
Water: Consistent moisture, do not over water and soil should never be soggy
Plant: Indoor- 6-8 weeks before last frost
Transplant: After frost risk passes and soil warms
Space: 2-3ft apart prune regularly when mature to allow good airflow and promote new growth
