Garden Club

Sign your children up for our FREE Garden Club, a weekly afterschool club for grades K-6 students who attend school and/or live in the Hilltop area or Franklinton. Children who participate get to garden, plant seeds, harvest produce, cook food and snacks, enjoy garden-based activities, and explore the arts.

Spring 2024 Session: Tuesdays or Thursdays, April 2 through May 23 from 3:30 - 5:30 PM.

Garden Club teachers are happy to walk students to the Garden from Highland Elementary, the Educational Academy for Boys and Girls or the J Ashburn Center, upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will my Child(ren) do at Garden Club?

Students in Garden Club plant seedlings, pick fresh produce from the garden, cook tasty & healthy snacks, learn about plants & insects in the garden, and more.

Programming is led by educators & volunteers that are background checked and have a plethora of experience working with young people.

Does it cost anything to sign up?

Nope! All programming with Highland Youth Garden is completely free.

Where does Garden Club take place?

Garden Club takes place at Highland Youth Garden, 67 S Highland Ave, Columbus OH. The garden has a high tunnel, which allows for some protection during rainy weather. During the unlikely thunderstorm or severe weather, Garden Club is cancelled that week. You will be notified via phone call or text in the unlikely event of cancellation.

How do I sign up?

Sign up on Highland Youth Garden’s website. You will receive confirmation of your child(ren)’s acceptance into the Garden Club at least a week before the session begins.

Can my student be picked up and dropped off at our house? Are there bussing services?

Unfortunately, Highland Youth Garden does not provide bussing services at this time. If your home is close enough to the garden, your student is welcome to walk to the garden. Garden Club teachers are happy to walk students to the Garden from Highland Elementary, the Educational Academy for Boys and Girls or the J Ashburn Center, upon request. Otherwise, they need to be dropped off and picked up from the garden.
